£2m McLaren P1 GTR for Pebble Beach

McLaren McLaren will show its new P1 GTR – pictured here for the first time in an official teaser shot above – at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance car show next month. The P1 GTR will feature a number of circuit-biased modifications – including a 1,000hp engine – and will cost £1.98 million. Ford Ka

These are the first images of the all-new Ford Ka, set to be unveiled at the forthcoming Paris Motor Show in October. This is the first redesign since the original Ford Ka - widely considered to be an automotive design icon - was launched at the 1996 Paris Motor Show. Back then, the Ka was praised for its 'New Edge' styling, helping Ford sell 1.4 million vehicles over its 12-year life.

IIHS names safest cars for 2013

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has named the safest cars for 2013, including 13 midsize sedans that qualify for a new “top safety pick+” designation. The designation is given to vehicles that earn “good” ratings for occupant protection in at least four of five tests, with no less than “acceptable” in the fifth test. A new test -- the small overlap test -- was added to assess how the vehicles perform during a front-corner collision with another vehicle or object, such as a utility pole.
