Mercedes AMG GT gets new 503 bhp Twin-Turbo 4.0 litre V8 (video)

Fri, 13 Jun 2014

The new Mercedes AMG GT (pictured) gets the new 503 bhp Twin-Turbo 4.0 litre V8 We’ve speculated that the new Mercedes AMG GT – and, for that matter, futures ’63′ AMGs – will get a new twin-turbo V8 to provide the power as Mercedes look to move away from the naturally aspirated 6.2 litre V8 in cars like the SLS. And this is it. A new 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8 – the M178 engine – has been developed to replace the 6.2 litre V8 and, in initial tune, develops 503 bhp at 6250 rpm and 479lb/ft of torque from just 1750 rpm.

Ken Block Sn*Drift Fiesta Rally video

Sun, 31 Jan 2010

The Ken Block Monster Ford Fiesta Rally car (Sn*Drift video below) We’re big fans of Ken Block’sĀ abilitiesĀ here at Cars UK Towers. We’ve run a couple of Ken Block Videos before, including the Ken Block Gymkhana 2.1 video and the Ken Block on Top Gear video (which TG unsportingly blocked – as they do) – and even Ken Block driving a MKII Escort – and they show off the skills of a man at the top of his game. But Ken has moved on from Subaru, and is this year driving the Monster Ford Fiesta Rally WRT car instead.

The BMW X3 had the premium CUV market to itself when launched in 2004. Skip forward to the launch of the second generation and not only does the new version have a whole host of competitors for company, it also has to fit around its X1, X5 and X6 siblings. We took the 2011 BMW X3 (known internally as F25) to the Austrian Tyrol and spoke to its exterior designer, Erik Goplen, to find out if it still has the segment covered.
