Detroit Electric SP:01 – it’s a Lotus Exige EV

Detroit Electric has revealed the SP:01, a Lotus Exige based electric sports car promising 0-62mph in 3.7 seconds and a range of 190 miles. 999 are being built. Detroit Electric is a re-birth of a once well-known electric vehicle maker in the US (that’s well-known pre-WWII) that’s been revived by former Group head of Lotus Engineering, Albert Lam, set up shop in Michigan with the intention of emulating Tesla’s route to EV credibility by building its own Lotus EV.

Angriest drivers are from London

THE CAPITAL CITY of the UK is home to the country’s angriest drivers, with 63% of those who drive in London admitting that getting behind the wheel of a car made them aggressive and angry. The most common reasons for drivers’ bad moods in London are traffic jams (45%), cyclists and pedestrians (34%) and waiting at traffic lights and junctions (33%). Lorries and delivery drivers also accounted for 26% and bad manners from other drivers ranked with 24%.

Saab issued one of the few genuine surprises of the Geneva show: the Phoenix concept car, designed to show the newly independent brand's stylistic future. Named after the Phoenix platform underpinning many of the company's future products including next year's new 9-3, the concept car is a dramatic coupe.
