Self-driving Tesla could hit roads within three years

Electric car manufacturer Tesla has said that self-driving cars could be a reality within the next three years, with the firm targeting a computer-guided version of its Model S saloon. Tesla chief executive officer Elon Musk said in an interview with the Financial Times that the autonomous driving technology would act like “an autopilot” that could be switched on and off like an aeroplane’s guidance system. General Motors says its EN-V concept might be tested in large cities

General Motors is working on a second generation of its EN-V electric-car concept and might test the two-seat, pod-shaped vehicle in large cities around the world. The EN-V will wear the Chevrolet badge. It is designed to communicate with other vehicle and city infrastructure to minimize congestion.

2014 World Car Awards shortlist announced

The shortlist of finalists for the 2014 World Car Awards (WCAs) has been announced, revealing the cars that will compete for the 2014 World Car of the Year, as well as the World Luxury Car, the World Performance Car, the World Green Car and the World Car Design 2014 awards.
