MIG welded from .100" and .125" thick 5052 grade aluminum. Head & Shoulder Restraints are adjustable 1-1/2"vertically. Reinforced head and shoulder restraints for additional support. Energy absorbing impact padding on head restraint. Head designed for easy entry and exit from race car. Designed to accommodate all 5 or 6 point seat belts. Tesla increases Roadster production

By Nick Eaton Motor Industry 11 September 2008 11:30 Tesla Motors is about to ramp up production of its Roadster, having secured supply of a new single-speed gearbox from BorgWarner. Tesla began producing the Roadster in March 2008, but all 27 cars so far delivered to customers have effectively been interim models because the original two-speed ‘box was deemed too fragile for long-term use. The original thinking was that the Roadster would require two gears to achieve the best possible acceleration, and on that point Tesla was right.

Bob Lutz returns as General Motors adviser

A 1998 Porsche 911 GT1 and a 1986 Porsche 961, hot off their trip to the Rennsport Reunion IV, have joined the Saratoga Automobile Museum's exhibit “Porsche: 60 Years of Speed and Style in North America.” The display runs until Jan. 31. The exhibit at the museum in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., is sponsored by Porsche Cars North America and New Country Porsche.
