This Lakewood 2-piece scattershield was in a non-original drivetrain 1969 Chevelle SS I bought in the early 1990's. It was not installed in the car because the prior owner had an interest in drag racing. It was likely selected because the shop assembling the car had it on the shelf. I took it off when I acquired a correct GM aluminum bellhousing. The Lakewood did look monsterously cool though.

Racers used these to qualify their cars for track, by meeting safety standards required to protect car drivers from exploding drivetrain parts. The 2-piece design allowed the mechanic to view the clutch and surrounding components without removing the transmission too. Later, tracks required the scattershield to be one piece.

This scattershield does not appear to have taken a hit. It comes with the steel engine block plate, a clutch fork, and a clutch fork ball.

This would be a great component to use to restore a car that was raced, or a re-creation. It can be used for a street car too. Be sure to obtain a set of offset dowel pins from Lakewood to dial-in the exact position when mounting to your engine block.

Shipping cost will be determined on service requested.

Thank you for your interest. Frank

2014 BMW X5 M50d: Specs, photos and price ahead of November on sale

Sat, 31 Aug 2013

The 2014 BMW X5 M50d (pictured) goes on sale November 2013 The new BMW X5 goes on sale in November – after a public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month – including the most powerful diesel X5, the 2014 BMW X5 M50d. Because the M50d is a bit special, BMW has seen fit to relay not just a pile of new photos of the M50d (above) but specific details on its spec and options ahead of the on sale date in Europe. Just as in the first X50d, the new X50d gets the world’s most powerful in-line 6-cylinder diesel engine under the bonnet, which means a thumping 376bhp and a planet turning 546lb/ft of torque, enough to sprint to 62mph in a very un-diesel like 5.3 seconds.

Classic Lamborghini video surfaces

The Lamborghini of today is a far cry from the Lamborghini of old. Starting life as a tractor maker, Lamborghini cars came in to being when Ferruccio Lamborghini complained to Enzo Ferrari about the clutch on his new Ferarri. The dismissive response was that “the fault is with the driver, not the car”, and so was born Ferruccio Lamborghini’s resolve to build a car to take on the might of Marenello from his factory in Sant’Agata (incidentally, when Lamborghini took apart the transmission in question, he discovered is was the same unit he was currently building in to his tractors!).

Citroen C5 (2012) facelift first pictures

Citroen has upgraded the C5 with what must go down as one of the lightest facelifts yet seen on a 'new' car. However, there's been more significant change beneath the surface, headlined by a fresh satellite navigation interface. Is this really a new 2012 Citroen C5?
