Strand-Craft 122: It's a boat and a car

Feel like boating this holiday weekend? Here's what every AutoWeek reader needs: Mega-yacht builder Strand-Craft has introduced its extravagant 122, which the company calls a "high-performance streamlined Open super yacht." The art deco interior can be designed to suit your individual needs and includes a four double staterooms, heads, reception and salon areas. There are 52-inch LED televisions and Bang & Olufsen sound systems in all rooms.

With many surveys suggesting the world's automobile buyers are growing younger and more urban, saavy automobile companies are rushing to show their concern with cities, the future - and the future of cities. In New York City recently, black Audi A8s recently ferried 'influencers' to the Lower East Side area around the New Museum to attend an Audi supported Urban Future Initiative part of the area's Festival of Ideas. The Volkswagen Group and the Museum of Modern Art promise a major announcement of future cooperation, on May 23, and BMW recently announced that it is supporting the Guggenheim Museum in a six-year, nine-city endeavor called the BMW Guggenheim Lab.

2013 McLaren F1 – more details emerge

Planned to bring game-changing performance to the hypercar market, it will be McLaren’s halo car, sitting above the 458 Italia-bashing MP4-12C, and the yet-to-come McLaren which is aimed at the Porsche 911 and Audi R8. What exactly McLaren are planning with the new F1 – which may be called the McLaren 799 – is still hidden deep in the minds and computers of McLaren’s elite.
