Mercedes S65 AMG (2013) first official pictures
Fri, 08 Nov 2013By Ollie Kew First Official Pictures 08 November 2013 08:01 Bring on the ‘too much is never enough’ comments: this is the new Mercedes S65 AMG – the top dog of the S-class range. Set to be more than twice as expensive as an entry-level S350 BlueTec, which starts at £62k, the S65 AMG borrows its powerplant from the SL65 AMG, and comes close to embarrassing the SLS supercar in a drag race. Whereas the new S63 makes do with a piffling 5.5-litre biturbo V8 developing 577bhp, the S65 squeezes in a twin-blown V12 good for 621bhp – that’s only one horse fewer than the Mercedes SLS Black Series manages.
BMW 7 Series Facelift includes new 750d xDrive – but not for the UK
Fri, 25 May 2012BMW 7 Series Facelift The BMW 7 Series has been given a facelift with new technology, cosmetic tweaks and a new range-topping diesel – the 750d xDrive. As you would expect, the facelift for the BMW 7 Series ushers in cosmetic changes, technology upgrades and oily changes too. But perhaps the most interesting oily change is a change we don’t look likely to get in the UK – the addition of the 750d xDrive.
Hennessey Venom GT hits 265.7mph for new world top speed record (+ video)
Wed, 03 Apr 2013The Hennessey Venom GT – an American, Lotus Elise-based supercar – has clocked 265.7mph for a new world record top speed for a production car. The world top speed record for a production car has been held by the Bugatti Veyron (well, the Veyron Super Sport) at 258mph, but that’s a ‘limited’ speed for its production cars. The Veyron Super Sport actually hit 267.81mph at VW’s Ehra-Lessian track (it actually hit 269.8mph one way) but because production cars are limited to 258mph the higher speed doesn’t count.
