Hungarian GP qualifying: Rosberg on pole for Mercedes – Hamilton out of qualifying after car fire

Sat, 26 Jul 2014

Hungarian GP qualifying: Rosberg (pictured) on pole for Mercedes Lewis Hamilton seems to have had most of the unreliability problems that have hit Mercedes this year, but a fire in his car before he even set a time in qualifying for the 2014 Hungarian Grand Prix today in Budapest was a cruel blow to his title chances. Hamilton managed to limp his stricken car in to the pits as flames licked round the back after what appears to have been a fuel leak, but that means Hamilton will start from the back of the grid tomorrow, making it incredibly difficult to get even close to Rosberg who finished qualifying on pole. Behind Rosberg, Sebastian Vettel managed to put the Red Bull in second, with Williams’ Botas in third during a final qualifying that saw rain drench the first corner, nearly claiming Rosberg and sending McLaren’s Magnussen in to the tyre barrier and out of Q3.

The Bluebird name is back – and this time it’s on a road-legal supercar. This is the first sketch of the Bluebird DC50, an electric coupe that’ll be launched in 2014 to mark 50 years since Donald Campbell’s land and water speed record runs. It’s the brainchild of Don Wales, grandson of Sir Malcolm Campbell and nephew of Donald Campbell.

Ettore Bugatti’s own Type 57C up for auction

Thu, 04 Jun 2009

Ettore Bugatti's personal Type 57C Coupe is up for auction at Pebble Beach in August Not only are Classic Cars a decent long-term investment they do also offer the pleasure of playing with them – something no other work of art can manage. And with the rising wealth in emerging economies, something with as finite a supply as Classic Cars can hardly fail to appreciate in the long term. Which explains why real classics are still fetching record prices.
