Offered here is a AMPHENOL GRAY 2 PIN DT SERIES CONNECTOR KIT for 16 GA-18 GA WIRE. This one’s designed by them to work as a direct replacement to Deutsch connectors. These work great in marine and automotive applications where a waterproof connection is needed. These connectors are used by NASCAR, NHRA, Formula 1, ALMS, and Grand American Road Racing Association and others so you know they’re going to give you the best possible connection and weather resistance for the money.

To make it easy so you don’t have to shop all over for the pieces you need to make a connection, our complete kit includes both connectors, wedge locks, and nickel plated contacts.

As for contacts, most people sell you solid ones but we prefer the crimp style since the home mechanic can easily install those without special expensive crimpers. All you have to do is solder the wire in the connector then crimp over the tabs with pliers. That method works great and is actually stronger with better electrical conductivity than crimped terminals.

OSDmarine Kit Includes…

  • 1 ea. - Gray 2 Pin Plug (for female contacts)
  • 1 ea. - Secondary Lock
  • 2 ea. – Nickel Plated Crimp Socket for 16-18 AWG Wire
  • 1 ea. - Gray 2 Pin Receptacle (for male contacts)
  • 1 ea. - Secondary Lock
  • 2 ea.- Nickel Plated Crimp Pin for 16-18 AWG Wire

FEATURES OF DEUTSCH CONNECTORS…

  • Flame-retardant: Deutsch engineers specify flame-retardant, high grade thermoplastics for all Deutsch connector molded components to reduce the risk of fire. Impact Resistant Materials Thermoplastic materials are selected to avoid breakage caused by impact during use.
  • Operating temperatures: From –67 degrees F to +257 degrees F (-55 C to +125 C).
  • DT Series Current Rating: 13 amps
  • Physical Shock: No Unlocking, or unmateing during or after 50 g’s in each of 3 mutually perpendicular Planes.
  • Vibration: Maintains Continuity and exhibits no mechanical or physical damage after vibration of 20 g’s at 10-2000 HZ.
  • Durability: No electrical or mechanical defects after 100 cycles of engagement, or disengagement.
  • Submersion: Properly wired and mated connections will withstand immersion under 3 feet of water without loss of electronic qualities or leakage. Meets requirements of IP6K9K and IP67. ***Note “submersion” is rated without water flow. These will not withstand pressurized water being sprayed directly on them (they’ll leak).
  • Fail Safe Connector Assembly: DT connectors provide a design that allows the wedge to be installed only if the contacts are fully inserted and provides that the connectors can only be coupled if the wedges are fully inserted.
  • Improved Field Performance: Deutsch connectors are designed to carry the rated current at maximum rated temperature to provide confidence in all applications.
  • Air-Tight Crimp: Terminations When properly crimped, Deutsch terminations provide an air-tight crimp which is highly resistant to increases in resistance as a result of temperature and oxidation.
  • Silicone Wire Seals: Deutsch wire seals are devoid of all organic matter and are an integral component of the connector which eliminates the need to assemble seals on wire leads thus reducing wire termination assembly time and cost.
  • No Retention “Tangs”: Deutsch contact retention is designed in the connector insert and therefore not exposed to damage during assembly and rework. Since Deutsch solid contacts are manufactured by a cold-forming process, most random variations are eliminated, which leads to consistent and predictable performance.
  • Extended Wire Sealing Range: The standard connectors seal over a broad wire diameter range. This provides wire sealing with a minimum number of parts, which makes design and parts inventories easier.
  • 2 types of terminals are available for the Deutsch Connectors, Solid, or Stamped & Formed. (we only carry the stamped ones since they work best for individuals installing their own)

Cadillac CTS Coupe (2010) – Official

Mon, 23 Nov 2009

Cadillac will launch the CTS Coupe in Spring 2010 Having let the cat out of the bag over plans for a range-topping Cadillac CTS-V Coupe (and the CTS-V Wagon) the other day, GM has now released official detail of its less powerful sibling, the CTS Coupe, which will launch in the Spring of 2010, so as is American convention we should probably call it the 2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe (the American car industy is as bad as the fashion industry – everything is ‘Next Year’). The CTS Coupe joins the Saloon (Sedan) and Estate (Wagon) to complete the three model lineup for the CTS, and is by far the best looking of the bunch, although to be fair both the saloon and estate are attractive in a bold, American kind of way. Sitting a couple of inches lower than the saloon, the Coupe is also a couple of inches shorter.

Hertz announces Ford Mustang-based Hertz Penske GT rental car

Mon, 08 Jul 2013

There's nothing wrong with your basic cloth-interior rental cars, but there are times when you want to stumble off the plane and into something a bit more stimulating than a CVT-equipped Versa. Fortunately, rental car companies seem to be willing to answer the enthusiast call. Last week we told you about the Hertz Dream Car lineup and its $1,500-per-day Ferraris, but the company has also developed the muscle-car oriented Adrenaline Collection.

Mazda Takeri concept (2011) first official pictures

Tue, 25 Oct 2011

Mazda today unveiled its Takeri concept car ahead of its global debut at November's 2011 Tokyo motor show. The swooping mid-sized saloon is the latest recipient of the Japanese marque's Kodo design language and drops a very heavy hint about the styling of the next Mazda 6 range, expected in 2012. What do we know about the new Mazda Takeri?
