MARINE SELF CONTAINED AIR CONDITIONER UNIT
 + ELECTRIC HEAT OPTION

18,000BTU 220V 50/60 HZ - LOW PROFILE 24"l x 17"w x 10.5"h

FLAGSHIP MARINE (Price New $2,799)

This is a rare opportunity to get a like-new air conditioning unit for ~1/3 of it's manufacturer price.

The self contained air conditioning unit is practically like new.  Unit was installed in the (clean/dry) interior salon of a large motor yacht and very lightly used for less than 1 year before the owner decided to replace the ships systems with a central chiller unit.

FLAGSHIP MARINE Air Conditioning Units (see Manufacturer's Website at flagshipmarine dot com) are commercial quality units that are the favorite for Coast Guard and Navy Patrol boats.  These ultra-hi quality marine air conditioners focus on durability with very little maintenance and very easy/cheap repair profiles by design.

FLAGSHIP MARINE'S PHILOSOPHY is to use 100% Standard "Hardware Store" Components in its control units and they boast that every component of their control unit can be purchased at a local hardware or supply store for less than $30.  Likewise their thermostat lead is a standard house 4-wire thermostat, and their supplied thermostat can be replaced with any standard house thermostat.  This is in stark contrast to the "major" boat air conditioner manufacturers, who build expensive proprietary circuit boards and thermostat units, and make virtually all of their profit selling these high-failure replacement parts at dramatically over-inflated prices.

HEATING UNIT:
As an added advantage, this unit uses a coil-type heating unit placed in the blower outflow to provide on demand heat in all environments.  This has several advantages:
   1. The number one (and most expensive) point of failure of so-called "reverse cycle" heating (installed on most boats) is the failure of the of the cycling unit on the condenser.  This is a frequent thousand dollar repair that can be entirely avoided with electric heat such as this unit has.
   2. Reverse cycle heat installed on most boats with CEASE TO WORK when the water temperature falls below ~45 degrees.  If you are in northern latitudes you will have NO heat on your boat in the winter, unless you have a unit such as this installed.
   3. The failure of your AC water pump will stop your air conditioner and will prevent you from having any heat whatsoever, unless you have a unit such as this installed.
   4. Haul your boat out for the winter to work on it?  When your boat is out of the water it will stop your air conditioner and will prevent you from having any heat whatsoever, unless you have a unit such as this installed.
   5. Winter time space heaters are the NUMBER ONE CAUSE of vessel fires in colder areas, and (in many cases) use of such a heater will invalidate your insurance policy, unless you have a unit such as this installed.

SHIPPING:  NOTE SHIPPING IS LISTED AS $100 FLAT RATE BECAUSE OF EBAY RULES, BUT SHIPPING WILL BE DETERMINED AFTER SALE

This item is an air conditioning unit.  While fairly compact, it has to be palletized for shipping and (like every other AC unit) cannot be sent via UPS or US Mail.  Once boxed it will weigh approximately $150#.  Shipping will have to be determined based on location after sale.  With two exceptions:
     1. I offer free pickup at my location in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, or,
     2. I will deliver to your location within 400 Miles of Ft. Lauderdale, FL for $1 per mile.

  Thank you for bidding!

700 medics call for car smoking ban

Fri, 07 Feb 2014

AROUND 700 medics and health experts are calling on the Government to ban smoking in cars carrying children ahead of a Commons vote on Monday. In a letter to the British Medical Journal (BMJ), respiratory experts said secondhand smoke was a "major cause of ill health in children", damaging the developing lungs, causing sudden infant death and leading to thousands of hospital trips every year. Signatories to the letter are being co-ordinated by Dr Nicholas Hopkinson from Imperial College London and chairman of the British Thoracic Society's chronic obstructive pulmonary disease specialist advisory group.

Honda at the Paris motor show 2008

Thu, 02 Oct 2008

By James Foxall Motor Shows 02 October 2008 10:35 Honda’s Paris stand was largely devoted to clean and affordable motoring. There was the latest Jazz and a new six-speed gearbox. But the real excitement was reserved for the new second-generation Insight, whose low price Honda believes will lure a whole new raft of buyers to hybrid motoring.  This bears about as much relation to the wild-looking Insight coupe of old as the Jazz does.
