There is always a plethora of wonderful cars on display during the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, and also some not so wonderful, like the Spyker B6 Venator and Laraki Epitome. This year, one of the cars stood out with its bright orange color and unusual styling – the Lincoln Indianapolis Boano Coupé. It’s facelift time for the Citroen C5. The Gallic family car gets a cosmetic fillip, new safety toys and a range of engine revisions to keep it fresh in the face of new competition from the new VW Passat and pepped-up Ford Mondeo. The 153bhp turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol nets lower CO2 emissions, down 14g/km to 153, and economy is also improved, up to 42.2mpg from 39.8.

Report backs Scottish pay-as-you-drive

SCRAPPING FUEL DUTY and car tax in Scotland and replacing them with a pay-as-you-drive system has been suggested by an independent think tank. The scheme would help reduce emissions, cut congestion and increase fairness, Reform Scotland said. The organisation has produced a report on the idea, calling for the Scottish Government to launch a feasibility study on a national and local scheme in which central government would "price" motorways and trunk roads and local authorities would "price" local roads.
