Ghosn wants to expand Daimler ties; calls alliance a ‘powerhouse'

With chatter swirling about potential expansion of the Renault-Nissan alliance, CEO Carlos Ghosn on Thursday put his support directly into expanding the automakers' relationship with Daimler AG. “We know we have a powerhouse,” Ghosn said in a media roundtable at the Paris auto show. “When you add the R&D of Renault, Nissan and Daimler, we are the largest in the industry,” Ghosn said.

Toyota will reveal the new 2013 Auris, Auris Tourer Estate and Verso MPV at this month’s Paris Motor Show. We’ve already had the reveal of the new Toyota Auris ahead of the Paris Motor Show, but it won’t just be the new Auris that’s on Toyota’s stand. Chevrolet has unveiled the Miray hybrid speedster concept today at the 2011 Seoul motor show in Korea. Created as a Chevrolet centennial celebration and marking increased globalisation of the Chevrolet brand, the new two-seater Miray concept looks set to be the star of the 2011 Seoul motor show. Why on earth wasn't the Chevrolet Miray at the 2011 Geneva motor show!? Good question. The exciting-looking Miray would certainly have drawn a larger crowd than the Cruze hatchback. But don't forget that GM Korea (formerly Daewoo, and bought by GM in 2001) develops many of Chevrolet's products these days.
