Watch the reactions of first time drivers of the BMW i3 EV
Wed, 30 Apr 2014Jake Humphrey at the wheel of the BMW i3 EV It’s always tough to get across the driving experience; there’s no substitute for actually doing it. So BMW decided the best way to illustrate that their new electric city car – the BMW i3 – is a joy to drive was to film the reactions of first-time drivers, and their passengers, as they take to the wheel of the i3 for the first time on a test drive. BMW has filmed endless hours of footage of different drivers around the world getting to grips with the i3, and they’ve whittled that down to a compelling 1:37 video, much of which shows the reactions of drivers in the UK.
Farewell Jim Marshall, 1936-2010: Legendary photographer and a true car guy
Thu, 08 Apr 2010Jim Marshall--friend, rock photography legend and occasional AutoWeek contributor--died on March 24 in his sleep at the W Hotel in Manhattan. Marshall, 74, was scheduled to speak that night at the John Varvatos store in SoHo in New York, and work from his new book, Match Prints, was to be shown beginning on March 26 at Staley-Wise Gallery, also in SoHo. Marshall began his career in 1960, a time he used to say was "the beginning of something special." Boy, was he right.
Diesel hybrid cars avoid BIK penalty. Peugeot, Citroen & Volvo rejoice.
Fri, 18 Nov 2011Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 is the first car to benefit from BIK rates on diesel hybrids As a company car driver the Inland Revenue gets its cut no matter what. With BIK rates set based on CO2 emissions and list price, it’s hard to find a way to beat the system. Even opting for a diesel car doesn’t help because, despite much better economy on the whole from diesels than petrol engined cars, HMRC adds an extra 3% to your BIK rate because diesels emit more of the stuff that matters – particulates and NOx – than a petrol-engined car.
