Who's Where: Robin Page joins Volvo Cars as interior design director
Tue, 12 Mar 2013Robin Page has joined Volvo Cars as design director interior. He will report directly to Thomas Ingenlath, Volvo's vice president of Design. 41-year-old Page, formerly head of interior design at Bentley since 2001, was responsible for the Continental and Mulsanne ranges' interiors and also designed the interior of Queen Elizabeth II's State Limousine. He previously undertook an apprenticeship with Jaguar and has also worked for Rolls-Royce and Bugatti.

Thu, 17 May 2012Vauxhall Ellesmere Port - Saved General Motors is to keep Vauxhall’s Ellesmere Port open, move to three shift working and create 700 new jobs. The overcapacity of mainstream car manufacture in Europe as the market becomes ever more polarised between premium and budget cars – squeezing the middle – means car maker having to rationalise their output. Many thought that could mean the end of Vauxhall’s Ellesmere Port as GM sought to stem its European losses (around £2 billion in the last three years), especially as it is easier to close plants and lay off workers in the UK than in mainland Europe.

Which seems to be because Renault want us to perceive the Wind as a bit more upmarket that the Twingo on which it’s based. So they’re fitting bits and bobs to the interior from further up the Renault range to make the Wind seem a bit posher.
