Electric car world record on single charge – but it’s pointless
Thu, 27 May 2010The Japanese Electric Vehicle Club did 632 miles in this Electric Daihatsu Mira Van When car endurance records are set they feel relevant only if they are real-world records. Records set by a car you can buy doing something you could do. A bit like Tom Ford’s run to Munich and back in a BMW 320d ED last week when he managed over 1,000 miles on a single standard tank of fuel.
Lamborghini Huracan: Is this the name of the new Gallardo?
Thu, 12 Dec 2013Do we now have to get used to calling this the Lamborghini Huracan? We’re currently suffering a spate of teases for the successor to the Lamborghini Gallardo – which we expected to be the Cabrera – but it seems it won’t get the Cabrera moniker after all – it’s apparently going to be the Lamborghini Huracan. So says Auto Express who’ve been tipped the wink by someone who seems to know.
Kia's Forte Super Bowl ad features violent android lady
Fri, 01 Feb 2013There's no Jimmy Cliff or Flaming Lips in Kia's Super Bowl ad for the new Forte, but we can't help thinking they're the second company this week to miss out on co-opting seminal New Jersey punk outfit the Misfits' “We Are 138.” While attaching the song to the unveiling of Ferrari's new F138 was a no-brainer from a numerically synergistic standpoint, the track's poppy brutality and ominous query, “Is it time to be an android, not a man?” dovetails perfectly with the rise-of-the-sexy-machines theme of the Kia clip. Clearly, the android in this spot -- portrayed by former Miss USA Alyssa Campanella -- has the upper hand over the poor schnook oiling up the new Forte with his greasy mitts. We can't help thinking the whole ad would've been better if the Misfits' original pint-size vocal dynamo Glenn Danzig had been involved somehow.
