Mg Wire Wheel Conversion For 1965-67 Mgb Roadsters, Used, No Reserve on 2040-parts.com

Orangeville, Pennsylvania, United States
Condition:Used

This is a wire wheel conversion for 1965-67 MGB roadsters.  It has course threads on all the hubs and caps.  I was in the British car repair and restoration business for over 30 years and this is a setup from one of the cars that I bought for parts.  The 4 main wheels were sandblasted and painted not long before they were taken off the car and stored inside.  One of the wheels had a wheel cylinder leak on the back side of it (picture no.9) and will need to be sanded and repainted.  The spare wheel (picture no 12) was rusty before it was painted.  All the wheels have all spokes and none are bent or loose.

One thing that I want to point out about converting to wire wheels is that the rear differential housing is shorter for the wire wheel application than the housing for disc wheels (picture no. 2)
as seen in this picture.  The difference is 1 and 1/2 inches.  For those selling rear hubs or axle shafts for conversion this will cause 1 or 2 problems.  When using either of these it will set the rear wheels
3/4 of an inch closer to the fender opening.  When you try to remove the wire wheel, you must pull it 3 inches to get it off and using these parts makes it hard and it doesn't look right.  If  you change just the axle shaft you also run the risk of twisting it as it only has half the splines engaged, 3/4 of an inch istead of the 1 1/2 inches that should be engaged.

This set that I have up for auction includes the following:
      1  rear axle housing
      2 rear axle shfts
8 lock nuts for the brake drums
      2 front hubs
2 front caps for the front hubs
4 wheel caps/nuts (your choice of winged nuts or octagon nuts large wrench with octagon nuts
      5 wire wheels
      1 spare tire hold down

These are the things that you will need to use from your old parts
     2 rear brake drums
     2 rear brake shoe adjusters
2 rear brake shoe sets and hardware
     2 rear wheel cylinders
     2 rear brake lines
     2 rear wheel bearing hubs
4 front wheel bearing and spacer
     1 center differential section

These are the parts that you will  need to buy
1 hand brake cable  about $20.00 plus shipping
    5 gaskets and o rings  about $5.35\

I have tried to make this as complete as I can and still keep the cost down.

I am located 4 1/2 miles off I80 and exit 236.

I have listed this item as pick up only.  I will ship it under 2 conditions.  1 there will be a $100.00 charge to crate the items. 2 you arrange all shipping arrangements.

This item is offered at no reserve and I have listed the opening bid at my lowest price and the item will sell once an opening bid has been made.

Thank you for your interest and I am open to any and all comments or questions.

Watch Bucky Lasek steal a sheriff's daughter with a Subaru Impreza WRX

Mon, 31 Mar 2014

Someone at Subaru probably canceled their plans, found enough Mountain Dew to keep them awake, plunked down in a comfy chair and watched the entirety of Grindhouse -- including the fake trailers -- to come up with the above fake trailer. Skateboarding hero Bucky Lasek, who races for Subaru's GRC team, does his best stoner-hippie Johnny Depp impression as he picks up the sheriff's daughter (Instagram "sensation" Kayslee Collins) and proceeds to do donuts around typical Midwestern fare -- and a peeing scarecrow -- in a 2015 Subaru Impreza WRX, made for jumping on dirt, storming through fireballs, being menaced by a shotgun and feeding Lasek donuts while he does donuts himself. You've been warned.

Frankfurt Motor Show 2013 – Trends and Overview

Mon, 30 Sep 2013

The bi-annual Frankfurt motor show is always an exhibition of Germanic industrial might – for better or worse – and 2013 was no exception. Despite news of flat-lining car sales across Europe, the show was one of the defiant rolling out of new models. The number of production cars and production previews of cars that would be appearing in (presumably quiet) showrooms soon was impressive.

Mecum to auction part of baseball great Reggie Jackson's car collection

Thu, 29 Jul 2010

Baseball Hall-of-Famer and five-time World Series winner Reggie Jackson bought his first car before he could legally drive. And while that Ford won't be offered at the Mecum Monterey Auction, 15 cars from his collection will. A 1969 ZL1 COPO Camaro is among the headliners to cross the auction block.
