Tue, 25 Sep 2012The past weekend, the Harewood Speed Hillclimb in Yorkshire, England, celebrated its Golden Jubilee. For 50 years, vehicles have been making the run up a narrow, twisting paved lane on a stretch of rolling farmland near Leeds, trying to beat the clock. The route, of about 1,600 yards, at one stretch passes between two barns on the property.

Beyond that, we don’t get a lot more than we already know. Heading for an arrival in 2015, the Jaguar XE (we always doubted the commonly accepted Jaguar XS moniker) will be the first car in its segment to have an aluminium monocoque and, say Jaguar, is set to be the most advanced and efficient sports saloon in its sector and will be the first production Jaguar using the new aluminium architecture used for the Jaguar C-X17 SUV Concept.

Sun, 20 Feb 2011Rolls-Royce has confirmed it will show its first electric car at the 2011 Geneva motor show. The 102EX is the latest in a line of concept cars – EX stands for experimental – which history suggests should go on to influence production cars. The Rolls-Royce 102EX is known internally as the Phantom Experimental Electric and is being used to judge reaction to a battery-powered Roller among owners clubs and media.
