I am a long time fan of MSD products and have been using their ignition boxes for over 30 years. I bought this one on eBay a few years ago. It ran fine for a few months, then failed one morning. Fortunately, it quit when I was starting the car in my garage. I sent it in to MSD and they repaired it without charge. I have learned that it is important to use the MSD 8830 Noise Filter Capacitor to maintain a steady voltage to these units. Since I hooked that up, there have been no more problems. I have replaced the "difficult to find" MSD electrical connector to the distributor pickup with an SAE connector.


The MSD 6AL makes the engine run smoothly and start reliability. Since I mounted it in my car's interior under the dash, I decided to paint it flat black so it would not look so obvious. I suppose that the paint could be removed with a little work. However, I believe that the black color helps it dissipate heat better. The serial number is not painted and is covered with tape. It is 134148. I am including ten Rev Limit modules that I have purchased also. The 6500 module is brand new and still in the package.

I removed this module when I converted my car to a distributorless ignition system.

Entries for the 2010 Los Angeles Design Challenge have now been revealed. The futuristic proposals, which called for designers to envision a 1000lbs (454kg) 2+2 vehicle that delivers comfort, safety and satisfactory driving performance without sacrificing the emotional connection today's consumers demand from their vehicles, come from the west coast design studios of seven automakers – General Motors, Honda, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Toyota and Volvo. For the first time since the Challenge's inception, studios outside California have also been allowed to enter the competition.

Along with most other car makers in the world, Jaguar and Land Rover has been hit hard by the current economic blight. But it seems that Tata has been hit by more grief than most.
