MSD 8918 Tach Signal GMR Pickup ![]() Item Description Just think of the things you can easily accomplish with our GMR pickup. This little device simply attaches, with no splicing or cutting, to a current carrying wire and turns that information into a 12 Volt RPM signal. This signal can be used to activate a shift light, RPM activation switch or a tachometer. One example is to connect the GMR, which stands for giant Electro-Magnetic, to a diesel injector current wire. This will produce a signal that can be used to trigger a tachometer or shift light. Another example is on late-model engine equipped with a coil-on-plug ignition system. One of the coil's primary current wires is simply routed into the pickup clip and GMR converts this pulsing into a 12 Volt signal for a shift light. Features

Audi ARE buying Ducati
Tue, 13 Mar 2012Audi to buy Ducati Audi has entered in to an exclusive deal to buy supercar bike maker Ducati in a deal said to be worth €250 million. The ‘For Sale’ sign has been discretely above the door at superbike maker Ducati for some time, and the money has been on Mercedes snapping up some two-wheeled prestige to add to its four-wheel stable. But it now looks like Audi has beaten them to the prize and look set to buy Ducatti.
VW Scirocco GTS & VW Beetle Fender arrive in the UK
Sun, 23 Dec 2012Volkswagen has announced two new limited edition models for the UK – the VW Scirocco GTS and the VW Beetle Fender – with cosmetic tweaks. But, despite revealing the Scirocco GTS in Europe in October, it still seemed that VW had no plans to launch the Scirocco GTS in the UK. We did ask VW why, but they didn’t bother to respond.
Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid (2011) first official pictures
Fri, 18 Mar 2011Porsche has released details of its updated 911 GT3 R Hybrid – the 2010 original nearly won last year's Nurburgring 24hr race before (ironically) it retired with petrol engine failure. The 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid – the lowdown Before this report disappears in a chorus of ‘it looks the same as last year’s one’, let's outline where Porsche’s engineers have been busy. At the unfashionable end of the car remains a 4.0-litre flat-six engine producing approximately 470bhp. Up front are twin electric motors, now producing 75kW of power each (up from 60kW) and combined these give the GT3 R Hybrid a 197bhp electric boost, which can be programmed to activate automatically via the throttle pedal, or manually selected during overtaking. F1-derived hybrid tech for the 911 GT3 R Hybrid Power for the two electric motors doesn't come from batteries, but flywheel accumulator technology from Williams Hybrid Power, an offshoot of the Williams Formula 1 team. The flywheel, encased in a carbonfibre safety cell in the space where the passenger seat would be, spins at up to 40,000rpm and acts as a mechanical energy store for the electric motors. Regenerative braking feeds energy back into the flywheel system – no surprises there, as the technology is derived from Williams' exeprience with Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems (KERS) in F1.
