Future products: Land Rover will get hybrids, smaller vehicles

New owner Tata Motors promises that Land Rover will add smaller vehicles and hybrid powerplants, but it hasn't said much about the timing. Land Rover will continue to share components with Jaguar, which is also under Tata ownership. Land Rover already uses Jaguar's 5.0-liter V8 engine in all but one of its vehicles.

Toyota ditches Corolla badge

It may be the most venerable nameplate in motoring history, but Toyota is ditching the Corolla badge in western Europe. The latest incarnation of the Japanese family car will be unveiled at the Paris motor show in September 2006, but it won't be wearing the Corolla logo.

Tesla is ridiculously successful, so far

Several Tesla Model S sedans catch fire, company co-founder Elon Musk blames the media, Tesla stock prices rise. Tesla cars are the subject of a recall, Musk blames the word “recall,” Tesla stock soars. Tesla posts what it calls profits but what everyone else views as losses, stock price shoots to $250 a share.
