  • AC FB-5 OIL FILLER CAP #1552231,   Shows some wear to the paint, has a small dent on one side.   Box Battered and torn.   Hand written 12-9-68 inside box which may have been when it was purchased?
  • Two AC FB-42 CRANKCASE BREATHER CAPS, one still wrapped up in original box, has torn box end flap.   The other has been opened for inspection, nice condition, has a few scuffs to the paint.   Both boxes oil stained, end flaps detached from second box.   Both  "2805-271-9054  BREATHER   1 EA  A-10/71    DAAE 07-72-C-0773  TYPE II SHELF LIFE CODE 0".

The name means “mongoose” in Italian, and even if this American half-breed never killed a Cobra on the track, in the looks department it’s still lethal. DeTomaso built 401 Mangusta sports cars from 1967 to 1971 before it was axed in favor of the ubiquitous Pantera--a styling step backward in the eyes of your humble author. The Mangusta formula was the same as that for Pantera: a Ford V8 engine (albeit a 302 rather than a 351C) midships in a sleek Italian body.
