The Audi A8 L 2011 will debut at the Beijing Motor Show There were times when we didn’t expect Audi to deliver a W12 engine in the new Audi A8. After all, with the rise and rise of the environmental lobby anything that doesn’t run on bio-fuel and emit fairy dust can expect to be castigated by the green-halo wearers as a planet-killer. Volvo reveals safety kit on 2015 XC90 SUV

So far the Swedish carmaker has teased us with designer sketches of how the seven-seat crossover will look, told us how it will be offered with a 395bhp plug-in hybrid that emits just 60g/km of CO2 and released official pictures of the production XC90’s interior. Now it’s time for the Volvo publicity machine to tell us about the novel new safety tech that will protect us from ourselves and this includes two claimed world firsts.

Grand National Roadster Show kicks off in California

History continued today at the Fairplex in Pomona, Calif., as the 62nd annual Grand National Roadster Show opened its doors for the weekend. Twelve open-topped hot rods will vie for the title of "America's Most Beautiful Roadster" and the right of their owners to scratch thier names onto the accompanying nine-foot-tall trophy. A few minor tweaks to the rules will make this year's judging something new.
