Audi outlines seven tech innovations

Audi has revealed details of seven new innovations being explored by its designers and engineers including electromobility, ultra-lightweight construction, networked mobility and lighting technology. Feds researching fire risks from EV batteries, regulator says

Federal safety regulators have begun an $8.75 million study of whether lithium ion batteries in electric vehicles pose a potential fire hazard, officials said Thursday. Kevin Vincent, chief counsel of the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, said researchers are looking at whether the high-voltage batteries can cause fires when they are being charged and when the vehicles are in an accident.

Changan Honor

The production version of the Changan Honor was unveiled at the Guangzhou motor show last month, six months after the concept was announced. The production version has stayed true to the concept car, with the Honor's exterior being similar to the company's most recent range, which has adopted a large front grille and rising side feature lines from Changan's MPV range. It represents the traditional MPV/minivan format, with a relatively flat waistline, generous glasshouse and two-box proportions.
