Everything from classic road cars to the latest F1 machinery crowd in to this glorious corner of England, safe in the knowledge that they are among friends; no global-warmists here wagging a condemnatory finger. EBay exotic: 1972 Fiat 850 Sport Spider

Exotic might be a strong term for a Fiat, but when’s the last time you saw a nice 850 Spider? Our friends at Bring a Trailer spotted this gem on eBay Motors in what appears to be surprisingly good condition, particularly since these little Italian roller skates turned to dust upon contact with any form of moisture. The year and Sport moniker indicate that this is the more powerful, revised 850 delivering 52 hp from its rear-mounted 903-cc I4.

GM to double size of battery lab

General Motors says it will spend $8 million to double the size of its Global Battery Systems Lab, which the company claims is the largest and most technologically advanced automotive battery lab in the United States. GM says the expansion will speed up the development of hybrid and electric vehicles, such as the upcoming Chevrolet Volt, by improving on-site testing of battery cells and systems. When finished, the lab will be 30,000 square feet bigger than it is now, for a 63,000-square-foot total.
