Sat, 20 Aug 2011In an expected move, Infiniti has announced it will build a production version of the IPL G convertible concept seen at this year's New York Auto Show. The 2013 Infiniti IPL G convertible will likely share hardware with the IPL G coupe on sale now, and the power retractable hardtop used by the G37 convertible. IPL, which stands for Infiniti Performance Line, is the manufacturer's in-house performance department, serving as an extension of the Nissan NISMO works into the company's luxury division.

What we find particulary appealing about the three-pot supercharged Micra DIG-S is that it seems to offer a perfect alternative to the diesel City Car – and with much lower NOx and particulate emissions – but without the penalties in fuel economy normally associated with petrol-engined cars. The car will then go on sale globally across 170 countries, under different names dependant of territory. At 4426mm long and 1695mm wide with a 2600mm wheelbase, the Sunny is thoroughly conventional in its dimensions, yet there has obviously been a conscious effort to imbue this three-box sedan with a more monobox aesthetic, following on from the Nissan Ellure concept.
