McLaren MP4-12C sets a time at the Nurburgring We’ve had a spate of claims for lap records at the Nurburgring by production cars, and the latest to play the game is the McLaren MP4-12C, with McLaren claiming a time of 7.28:00. The last shenanigans we had with Nurburgring records was with the Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR setting a Nurburgring time of 7:12.13 which, although very quick – and claimed as a Nurburgring record – wasn’t actually a record at all. Dr Wolfgang Durheimer starts his new job today; previously Porsche’s R&D chief, Dr Durheimer takes up his post as boss of Bentley and Bugatti on 1 February 2011. Just before he left Porsche, CAR caught up with Dr Durheimer to discover the future he’s leaving behind at the German sports car manufacturer. Dr Durheimer begain his career in the auto industry in 1986, working for BMW as a product manager, product development boss for the Motorrad division, and then as R&D boss.

Nissan inaugurates new studio in Taiwan

Nissan opened its new Yulon Nissan Design Center (YNDC) in San-Yi, Taiwan yesterday, November 5th. The recent addition joins the global stable of Nissan studios responsible for bringing top talent and the best in creative design thinking to the company's global products. The YNDC studio joins Nissan's Atsugi and Harajuku Design Centers in Japan, the Nissan Design America studios in Farmington Hills, Michigan and San Diego, California and the Nissan Design Europe facility in London, UK.
