ITEM: This is for a new old stock (NOS) outside locking door handle for a 1934 passenger car (not truck). (I have a second one of these for sale -- this is actually better than the one from a couple of weeks ago). Includes two NOS original keys with matching number to the handle. Lock mechanism works smoothly. The mechanism is a little snug - I did put a couple drops of WD 40 on the key way to allow the key to go in without sticking. I also touched up the edges of the key just a little with emory cloth to help reduce the sharp edges.
This is a rare locking mechanism. I believe this double-sided key way was used only in 1934 - and possibly for a portion of 1935. The lock is made by Briggs and Stratton (abbreviated BASCO) - official GM supplier. The keys have little T-shaped "knock offs" on the tops of the keys that have the GM key number on them. (These knock-offs were the forerunner of the knock-outs that showed up in 1935.) Even finding these keys in NOS condition can be difficult. Please look at the photos. CONDITION: The condition NOS. Lock mechanism works very good. The chrome is in outstanding condition for the age. Generally a great HTF door handle in excellent condition - over 80 years old. You will never find a better one than this. OTHER: Returns accepted within 14 days of receipt - buyer pays return shipping. Free Shipping for this item by USPS Priority Mail. No handling or materials costs for shipping. Every item is packaged carefully. International shipping upon request. Will combine shipping where possible. I try to ship within 24 hours. Please ask any questions - I usually will respond in the evenings. Please let me know how I can resolve any problems and I will do everything I can to help. I try to carefully describe items - if I overlook something, I apologize - - Let me know. I try to give as many photos as reasonably necessary. Thank you. Fisker Karma Review Video
Fri, 05 Aug 2011Fisker Karma Review Video Finally, after a rather lengthy wait, the Fisker Karma is making its way in to the hands of real customers. And real cars means the opportunity to review the Karma, something a US Fisker dealer has put on video. Of course, a video review of Henrik Fisker’s baby from a franchised dealer – even when they get a pro driver to do it – is perhaps never going to be the most objective piece of reporting ever seen, but it does at least give us the opportunity for a real-world view of the Karma.
Essay: Variable Degrees of Translucency
Mon, 12 Nov 2007Car door panels and fenders are generally made of steel, sometimes of aluminum or plastic composites, and you can't see through them. Car windows, on the other hand, are made of a transparent sandwich of glass and plastic - and you can see through them. But in the future there will be variable degrees of transparency: translucent elements where once there were none, traditional window areas that will have opaque elements and graduated progressions from opaque to see-through.
SsangYong Korando 4×4 gets cheaper with arrival of the Korando SX
Mon, 18 Jun 2012SssangYong has dropped the entry price for its 4WD C-Segment SUV Korando with the launch of the Korando SX. SsangYong is the Korean car maker that hasn’t yet quite managed to drag itself out of the bin marked ‘Oh, dear’, but the takeover of SsangYong by the deep-pocketed Mahindra and the launch of the seemingly convincing SsangYong Korando Crossover/SUV last year auger well. The Korando is aimed at cars like the Hyundai ix35 and Kia Sportage, and it seems a decent enough offering in a slightly generic way (even if it is penned by Giugiaro), with a 2.0 litre turbo diesel with a decent enough 173bhp and with a choice of auto or manual, FWD or 4WD.
