For sale is a NOS, new in the box, never used MRG Pro Shifter number 8200. This was Mr Gaskets answer to Hurst's Super Shifter before they purchased Hurst. This shifter uses the H pattern, short throw and straight beefy shifting rods. The straight rods require the shifter to be mounted to the rear of the transmission and and in a raised position. The benefits are no rod flex and the shifter is closer to the driver for better shifts. The bad news is it requires cutting a hole. This shifter has been stored in its original box in a dry warehouse that was not climate controlled so I guess it sweated and got some minor surface rust as I have shown in the pictures. The stick is perfect no rust as is the internal shift mechanism as shown in the photos. The T handle has minor flaws that will wear off with use. I used some 200 grit sandpaper on the handle and most of it came right off. This is a shifter only. This shifter requires a linkage kit to be complete. MRG sold them as two separate units. It is in really good shape with a few rust spots that will not show once it is in the car and will not affect its performance. Thanks for looking.

Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid at the Nurburgring – Video

Wed, 28 Apr 2010

The Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid Nurburgring video below In February we reported that Porsche has developed the unthinkable – a hybrid 911. But this wasn’t a hybrid 911 with a bank of batteries and a fluffy-bunny conscience, but a rampant track 911 with a great big electro-magnetic flywheel and a KERS-like thump of an extra 160bhp – the Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid. The 911 GT3 R uses technology developed by Williams F1 and comprises of a pair of generators in the front wheels that shove energy to a composite flywheel (conveniently located next to the driver – not sure how well that would go down on a road0going version) which is the stored and can be thrown at the back wheels whenever the driver wants, in a way very similar to KERS.

GM said it will soon present its restructuring plans for Opel to the German government and other governments in Europe.

Now it’s time for the Volvo publicity machine to tell us about the novel new safety tech that will protect us from ourselves and this includes two claimed world firsts.
