You are purchasing a very good used original SMITHS tachometer for the Jaguar XJ6, 4.2, 1979 to Aug 1987 (Series III)  for USA, Canada and Japan.

This is an electric gauge. It measures 4 1/8" across the face.

This is a very good used gauge, it has been tested and it runs smoothly. The face is dark black and the needle and numbers are white. The red area by 5000 RPM has very true colors. It has the 2 indicator lenses along the bottom edge of the face. The black painted rim is very good. There is no rust on the casing.

From a vintage British inventory, Smiths part number RVC2615/00F  and that number is on the face (photo 2), Jaguar part number DAC1338 which is replaced by DAC3008.

New NHTSA guidelines recommend vehicle systems disable text entry, videos while driving

Federal regulators, moving to curb distracted driving, issued final voluntary safety guidelines today that would disable certain in-vehicle functions such as manual texting, Web browsing and video phoning while driving. Automakers should do more to keep drivers' eyes on the road and hands on the wheel, U.S. auto regulators said as they released the latest guidelines meant to cut down on crashes caused by the use of electronic devices in cars.
