Project Car Hell, Genuine Muscle Cars Edition: AMC Rebel Machine or Mercury Cyclone Spoiler II?

Tue, 29 Apr 2014

Once again, the hinges of the Hell Garage gates -- lubricated with the purest Unobtainium-239 -- creak open and bring us to another installment of Project Car Hell. Last week, we offered two options for your eternal torment, a straight-8 Packard and a straight-8 Buick, and we just love those classic Detroit cars! So much so, in fact, that we're going to stick with Detroit (well, Detroit and Kenosha, if you want to split hairs) and fast-forward the calendar a couple of decades to the Golden Age of Muscle Cars.

John Entwistle’s Rolls Royce Silver Shadow ESTATE up for grabs

Thu, 29 Aug 2013

John Entwistle’s Rolls Royce Silver Shadow Shooting Brake (pictured) up for sale Rolls Royce has never made an estate car – or Shooting Brake, as posh estates (and modern wannabes) tend to be badged – but that hasn’t stopped well-heeled owners from Maharajahs to rock stars turning Rolls Royces in to hunting and shooting transport for almost a hundred years. Taking the finest creations of Rolls and turning them in to a bespoke shooting brake is not a cheap hobby, but if you fancy a bit of gentrified rock ‘n’ roll history, Bonham’s have got The Ox’s (that’s John Entwistle, the Who bassist, for the younger readers) customised Silver Shadow Shooting Brake up for grabs. The Ox had the Rolls turned in to a Shooting Brake by an unknown coachbuilders back in the 1980s to carry his Irish Wolfhounds, and when he died as a result of a bit to much nose candy his Rolls Royce Shooting Brake was bought by the current owner from Entwistle’s wife.

Aston Martin Vanquish Volante Neiman Marcus Edition. Christmas is on its way

Thu, 10 Oct 2013

Aston Martin Vanquish Volante Neiman Marcus Edition It seems like Christmas should be a long way off, but not if you’re Nieman Marcus – the Harrods of North America – where Christmas has arrived with the launch of their annual Christmas catalogue. Regular readers will know the Neiman Marcus Christmas car is a special edition car offered each year and customised to make it unique – and more expensive. Last year’s Neimen Marcus car was the McLaren 12C Spider (and the year before the Ferrari FF) and this year Neiman Marcus has stuck with the Brit offering and have the Aston Martin Vanquish Volante as their car of choice for Christmas 2013.
