Jaguar C-X16 WON’T be the Jaguar XE
Wed, 07 Mar 2012Jaguar C-X16 won't be the Jaguar XE It’s been revealed that the new smaller sport car from Jaguar – the C-X16 Concept – won’t be called the Jaguar XE. The Jaguar C-X16 Concept – a new smaller sports car based on the next generation XK platform – was revealed at last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, and although we were a little underwhelmed with the design – there is nothing wrong with it, it just didn’t seem to move Jaguar’s design language on – we loved what was on offer. What we did think – in common with just about everyone else – is that Jaguar would make their new Sports car the Jaguar XE, evoking memories of the original E-Type in the process and fitting in with the current Jaguar nomenclature quite well.

Just last week we reported that Tata Motors’ profits in the last quarter had been driven very much by the resurgence at Jaguar Land Rover, with JLR profits soaring while Tata Motors domestic profits declined. And it looks like Tata are keen to keep that momentum going with the announcement that they are to double annual investment in Jaguar Land Rover to £1.5 billion.

Thu, 01 Oct 2009BAIC are planning to produce the old Saab 9-5 in China It would seem that there is a use for it – not just scrap value. BAIC (Beijing Automotive Industry Corporation), which recently acquired a small stake in Saab and where there are high hopes of some good Saab sales in China, wants to buy up the old 9-5 tooling. And move it lock, stock and barrel to Beijing.
