Kia has published some engine details and new photos of its replacement 2011 Picanto, which goes on sale in late spring. The new Picanto will be unveiled at the 2011 Geneva motor show on 1 March. It's a bigger model than the outgoing city car - the longer wheelbase liberating a quarter more boot space to answer criticisms of a cramped luggage bay.

Back in early 2009, when we reviewed the first Fiesta ECOnetic, we were suitably impressed with what a decent job Ford had done with their eco-friendly Fiesta. But we said that Ford would ‘…do better making ‘ECOnetic’ an option, not a model’. And it looks like someone at Warley was listening.

The new car sales figures for 2010 were announced today, revealing the winners and losers in the UK's new car showrooms. Perhaps surprisingly, with the ending of the scrappage scheme in March 2010, new car registrations in Britain ended up 1.8% on 2009. That was a total of 2,030,846 cars sold as new.
