CAR interviews Patrick le Quément on Renault design (2009)

Born in Marseilles but educated from the age of 12 in the UK, he speaks almost accentless English and agrees to talk to CAR on the eve of his retirement. Le Quément is one of those designers who’s achieved stellar recognition over the past two decades – matching the reputation of Chris Bangle and J Mays as a member of the design A-list, that exclusive club who’ve helped shape the modern motor car as we know it today.

Mazda 3, Mazda 6 get customized for the SEMA Show

We like the look of Mazda's current lineup, from the basic 2 to the sleek 6. Kodo design language has a lot to do with it -- Mazda North American Operations design director Derek Jenkins says that, thanks that Kodo styling, "the Zoom-Zoom genetic code is further being embraced, not buried, through increasingly expressive vehicle design." (Ugh.-ED) We didn't know genetics had anything to do with it, but hey -- tough to argue with the results. Perhaps Kodo's effectiveness is why Mazda's SEMA show concepts are fairly...restrained compared to what other automakers are bringing to Las Vegas.

Fiat 500L – first photo

The new Fiat 500L will debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show The Fiat 500L is heading for a debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month, and we have the first official photo of the oversized 500. It initially seemed that Fiat would use the ElleZero code name for the production car, but we subsequently learnt that, despite only a passing resemblance to the 500, it was to be the Fiat 500L (for long).
