Very nice "spec" matching engine case
Country/Region of Manufacture:Germany

Here is a very nice, in "spec." Porsche 356 engine case. Number P*85273*, this is a matching numbers case with no machining done nor needed. This case was manufactured in late September of 1959 (39/59) and would have been found in 1960 model year Porsches; e.g. "B" Drauz Roadster ((this engine would have been in a chassis number near 87,230(our estimates please verify with Kardex or C of A for your Porsche)), Reutter Cabriolet (chassis number near 152,830) or Reutter Coupe (chassis number near 109,755). It is a 1600S or Super engine which was the top of line 356 engine then (other than the "Carrera's 4 cam!).  As one can see the case casting number is 35285. Pairing numbers on all three pieces are 572. Please email all questions and thanks for looking! Note: if you happen to know or have access the the exact Porsche 356 (model/chassis number)  this engine came from, we'd love to hear from you. Thanks !

Concept Car of the Week: Ferrari Pinin (1980)

Fri, 10 Oct 2014

Over the years, Ferrari has slowly built a reputation for the fact that any car that wears the prancing horse badge on its bonnet ought to be a design masterpiece. Everyone has their own personal favorite: 250 GTO, 250 GT California Spider, 330 P4, Modulo, Daytona, you name it...  Yet few would remember – or even know about – the odd ones, the ugly Ferraris hidden away, rarely allowed to see the light of day; a few rare cars that got brushed under the carpet as quickly as they appeared include the 365 GTC/4, FZ93 Zagato, the 408 Integrale and the Pinin. Most of them are the work of independent studios, long-distanced from Enzo's (dis)approval.
