Concept Car of the Week: Toyota EX-7 (1970)

Imagine the roads of today filled with colorful mid-engined two-seaters. That would make your daily commute a lot more exciting, wouldn't it? This was Toyota's optimistic vision in 1970 when it presented the EX-7 concept at the Tokyo Motor Show, a high-speed touring car designed for intercity transportation in the near future.

The Nissan GT-R – one of the most iconic sports car models of all time – was unveiled in its latest go-even-faster Nismo incarnation in Tokyo on Tuesday 19th November 2013. MSN went to soak up the atmosphere at Nissan’s HQ in Yokohama on the outskirts of Tokyo and speak to the management. “Developing the GT-R is an act of passion and a driver of innovation”, so declared Nissan’s overall boss Carlos Ghosn (bottom left) after he was driven on stage by record-breaking driver Michael Krumm at the exclusive reveal of its GT-R supercar in Yokohama.

The Lotus Elise Club Racer Lotus may have plans to be the next Aston Martin, but for now it’s stuck with an Evora that’s not selling as well as it should and an Elise that is basically the same as the car that launched a decade ago. The plan with the Evora – apart from the rather odd move of getting Mansory to tart up an Evora – is to get the Germans in to give the Evora’s interior some class. As for the Lotus Elise, all there really is to do – because it has a hard-core clientele anyway – is to divvy up the odd special.
