This is the BMW i8 Concept, a near-production preview of Munich’s new plug-in hybrid supercar. Audi and Mercedes might have stolen a march on BMW with the R8 and SLS respectively, but while its rivals prepare limited-run electric versions of their supercars, BMW is putting this i8 into proper mass production in just two years time. The BMW i8, and its i3 EV sibling, will be revealed at the 2011 Frankfurt motor show in September. Qoros reveals design language ahead of Geneva debut

New car manufacturer Qoros' future design language has been revealed ahead of the world debut of its new sedan for China and Europe at the Geneva motor show in March. The brand's first production car will be showcased alongside two concept cars that will preview the future design direction of Qoros' range. The company was created in 2007 by a 50:50 joint venture between Chery Automobile and Israel Corporation, allowing the Qoros designers the chance to create a new design language from scratch.

Daimler, Ford, Nissan team up on fuel cells

Ford Motor Co., Nissan Motor Co. and Mercedes-Benz parent company Daimler AG have formed a partnership aimed at speeding up the commercialization of fuel cell electric vehicle technology. Together, the automakers plan to develop a common fuel cell stack and fuel cell system to be used in what they describe as "highly differentiated, separately branded fuel cell electric vehicles" as early as 2017.
