New Aston Martin Zagato to debut at Villa d’Este

The new Aston Martin Zagato tease It’s hard not to feel a frisson of excitement at the prospect of the makers of the most beautiful cars in the world – Aston Martin – taking a new creation to our favourite car event – Villa d’Este. Add to that delicious mixture the added ingredient of an Aston Martin by Zagato, and you have a recipe that will justify the trip to Lake Como all on its own. And that’s exactly what we’re getting in less than two weeks time – a brand new Aston Martin Zagato. Aston Martin and Zagato have had a meeting of  mind and body more than once in the past.

College Exhibition: Scuola Politecnica di Design Show

Masters students on the Transportation Design course at Scuola Politecnica di Design in Milan, Italy have recently displayed the results of a project done in collaboration with Lamborghini. Twenty students were faced with the delicious task of reinterpreting the legendary Espada, the four-seater front-engined GT designed by Gandini under Bertone in 1968. Guided by Professor Marco Bonetto, the project spanned one year and included the active involvement of Walter De'Silva, Director of Design for Audi Brand Group (Audi, SEAT, Lamborghini), and Luc Donckerwolke, Design Director of Lamborghini.

Video: FiDU technology creating lightweight, inflatable metal structures

This short video, featuring designer Oskar Zieta, details the process and design possibilities behind products developed with FiDU (Freie Innendruck Umformung – "free internal pressure forming") technology. Zieta, a Polish designer, explains how the lightweight yet robust metal appears as a soft object yet when you touch it you realize that it is actually a hard metal. "Working with FIDU technology is similar to carving clay," Zieta explains.
