Who's Where: Ken Ma joins Geely Automobile as Design Director
Mon, 08 Oct 2012Ken Ma (Ma Zheng Kun) has joined Geely Automobile as Design Director. His role will be to assist the work of Geely Group Senior Vice Design President, Peter Horbury, in enhancing the Geely brand's design capacity. Ma was formerly Vice President of Design for Changan, a position he held for a year before resigning.

While this all-new, third-generation model retains the overall proportions of the outgoing model, its design language is very different. Soft, subtle forms are out, particularly around its DRG, were a brutal grille, complete with bold chrome bar and star, takes center stage.

The latest episode walks viewers through the carmaker's history and evolution and features former Porsche director of design Harma Lagaaij – credited with the design of the 924 and also BMW's Z1 – along with a number of automotive critics and historians along with Speaking of the part he played in the evolution of Porsche, he says "I was never afraid of changing this icon. On the contrary, I was convinced with my design team to never stand still, never be complacent about it being good enough, it being popular and famous and there's no need to change it.
