BMW to build front-drive sedan

BMW boss Norbert Reithofer has surefire plans for a new front-wheel-drive entry-level sedan, falling in just below the existing 3-series sedan. The new four-door, known internally at BMW's Munich-based headquarters under the working title NES (New Entry-level Sedan), forms part of a new range of front-wheel-drive models set to join the BMW lineup in the near future. “The NES is integral to our growth plans,” a BMW insider source revealed.

Audi TT Offroad shows off at Beijing auto show

Audi introduced the TT Offroad concept at the Beijing motor show last week. The company says it comes with a plug-in hybrid drive system delivering 408 hp total, while getting 123.8 miles per gallon -- impressive, but we're guessing not exactly real world. To get that power, the TT Offroad concept uses the company's 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, making 292 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque.

Ian Callum reflects on the design of the new Jaguar XJ Ian Callum is Design Director for Jaguar, and the man does have a good pedigree. His career started round the corner from us, at Ford’s Design & Research facility at Dunton. He worked on a number of Ford’s RS projects, before moving on to TWR to join Tom Walkinshaw, and was responsible for the design of the Aston Martin DB7 and the Vanquish.
