The RaceQuip 120 series multi-layer pant is made up of an outer layer of durable Pyrovatex(R) FRC, backed by a layer of Nomex, then lined by another layer of Pyrovatex. Pyrovatex offers the maximum combination of overall flame and heat protection, durability and comfort for the price. This FRC material retains the softness and breathability of cotton and will wick away moisture from the skin. Pyrovatex fabric is gentle and non-irritating to even the most sensitive skin. The treatment process leaves the exterior surface shiny and supple. Since the Pyrovatex treatment is absorbed into the cotton fibers, with proper care; the garment will retain its flame retardant properties beyond the useful life of the garment.

All pants are assembled with heavy-duty, multi-needle, over-lock safety stitch machines to provide exceptional seam strength. All pants feature a high quality, heavy-duty two-way YKK zipper built on FR tape installed with a double overlap for a more secure front opening. Stylish contrasting full-length leg stripes. The black accents: high-back leg cuffs, and epaulets give RaceQuip pants a unique look and style. Add to this the pleated back panel for freedom of movement, boot cuffs, deep bag pockets and you have a multi-layer pant that provides an outstanding value. Meets or exceeds SFI 3.2A/5 specs with a TPP rating of 25.

The safest suit for maximum fire protection is a loose fitting one.
A suit's fire protection capability is directly related to the fit of the garment. A properly fitted racing suit will have small air gaps in between the body and the garment. A suit worn too tightly will compress these air gaps- allowing heat to reach the skin faster.

An additional consideration should be the position the garment will be worn in. Specifically, the clamshell orientation of the driving position requires additional material in order to prevent tugging the wearer. This is especially important when wearing a one piece suit. A racing suit that fits well while standing may not fit comfortably when seated and harnessed into a racing seat. It is important to account for this when selecting a suit: ensure you are the lower end of the range for a particular size to ensure that there will be enough material to prevent the suit from tugging when seated.

New gadget immobilises cars with electronic pulse

Tue, 03 Dec 2013

Mitsubishi It might sound futuristic, but British technology company E2V has developed a prototype gadget capable of remotely stopping a car using a burst of electromagnetic radiation. Although it does appear to be a piece of equipment from the ‘James Bond bad guy’ locker, this technology really does work and could be used by police forces in the future. Vauxhall VXR8 & SMART for-two CDI take MPG Marathon honours

Mon, 10 Oct 2011

Vauxhall VXR8 & SMART for-two CDI take MPG Marathon honours On the face of it, it’s reasonable to expect a car as small as the SMART for-two CDI to be capable of astonishing economy if driven in a certain way. And the ALD Automotive / Shell FuelSave MPG Marathon, run last week near Cirencester, proved exactly that, with a SMART driven by Mick Linford and co-driver Ella Flynn managing to use less than four gallons of diesel to cover the 370 mile route. That means the SMART fortwo CDI averaged 99.24mpg on the route on real roads, an improvement of 16 per cent on the official combined figure of 85.6.

Volvo C30, Ford Focus fare well in insurance-group crash tests

Tue, 21 Jul 2009

Four two-door cars received the highest safety rating in frontal crashes and two received that rating for side collisions in recent testing by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The institute gave its "good" rating in side crashes to the Volvo C30 and two-door Ford Focus. Those vehicles, along with the two-door Honda Civic and Chevrolet Cobalt, also received "good" ratings for frontal collisions, the non-profit group funded by auto insurers said.
