Rare Bugeye Sprite Early Mini Cooper Original Lucas Hf 1849 Horn on 2040-parts.com
Roswell, Georgia, US
Here is a Lucas HF1849 horn that was specified for Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite and the early years of Mini Cooper cars. These were canceled by Lucas back in the 1970s and no reproductions have been made. They are made from stamped steel with a cast alloy outer rim, very susceptable to corrosion, and were mounted low on the radiator brace on the Bugeye Sprite, directly in the path of water and slush coming off the right wheel. That unfortunate placement meant most used ones became worthless to restore as they were eaten up by corrosion. This one is in good original condition, ready to mount on a driver car. It has the original type bullet connections for the wires, so is ready to install. The sound these make is very distinctive, sort of resembling a goat with his private parts caught in a barbed wire fence. No other horn makes quite the same sound. The picture is of the exact horn you will receive. Please be sure it is correct for your application before bidding. Up in smoke: Smokey Yunick's garage burns
Tue, 26 Apr 2011Legendary NASCAR mechanic Smokey Yunick closed the "Best Damn Garage In Town" long before he died in 2001. But the main concrete-block, tin-roofed building on Beach Street in Daytona Beach, Fla., remained a stop on the NASCAR history trail for visiting faithful until Monday night, when fire destroyed the building. The building housed Yunick's office and a medium-size garage and more recently served as office space for Carbon Press, the publishing company that Yunick's daughter, Trish, operates and which produces products that include Yunick's salty 1,100-page autobiography and biographies of other racing personalities.
Porsche Panamera to receive long-wheelbase treatment for 2012
Fri, 11 Feb 2011Porsche is developing a long-wheelbase version of the Panamera in a bid to satisfy demand for greater rear-seat legroom from customers in North American and China. Details remain sketchy, but insiders at the company's research and development center in Germany have indicated to AutoWeek that the 115-inch wheelbase of today's Panamera will be extended by almost five inches, taking it up to nearly 120 inches. By comparison, the long-wheelbase version of the Mercedes-Benz S-class boasts a 124-inch wheelbase.
Do Traffic Lights Hold The Key To Saving Fuel?
Tue, 11 Mar 2014SUPERMARKET fuel price cuts may come and go, but it’s becoming increasingly difficult to achieve longer lasting savings. German car maker Audi thinks it may have the answer, as it’s developed a system that ‘talks’ to traffic lights. The goal is to save fuel by alerting drivers to when lights change so they can slow down, plus prime a car’s engine stop-start system when a change from red to green is imminent.
