Mazda to celebrate Miata MX-5's 25th birthday in New York

Everyone's favorite autocrosser, the Mazda Miata MX-5, is celebrating its 25th birthday in 2014. It made its global debut way back in 1989 at the Chicago Auto Show. This year, at the New York auto show, the company is going to host its biggest birthday party yet.

The cars affected are diesel-engined X-Type models made between 2006 and the end of X-Type production in late 2009, and the recall concerns the cruise control, which may not respond under certain circumstances. To be fair to Jaguar, the issue with the cruise control failing to respond has not come to light through any complaints from owners, but from an employee of Jaguar.

Volkswagen Group takes over BlackBerry's European R&D center

The Volkswagen Group has taken over BlackBerry's European research and development center in Bochum, Germany. The center employs around 200 people who will transfer to the newly founded VW Group subsidiary, Volkswagen Infotainment GmbH. BlackBerry is in the midst of a global restructure, as it bids to move away from making smartphones and switch its business to software development.
