Reeds Marine Distance Tables 13th Edition

______________________________________________________________________________

Reeds Marine Distance Tables are the perfect ready-reckoner for captains, navigators and owners of merchant and cruise ships large and small wanting a quick and accurate distance reference between all the regularly used commercial ports around the world. They are also of increasing value to the superyacht fleet.

The book is divided into key 'market areas', and includes a pull-out map for area identification and easy see-at-a-glance port reference. Traffic Separation Schemes are calculated into the tables and the distance to any port not included can easily be determined by making an approximation from the next closest port. Useful tables of major 'turning points' around the world (such as Cape Finisterre, Cape Horn and the Dover Straits), time zones, and time and speed conversion tables are also included. New for this edition is a useful Transatlantic distance table which has improved the linkage between the western north Atlantic and the Mediterranean and between South America and Africa. Additionally, coverage of Chinese ports continues to be extended in light of their growth and importance, and both China's and India's busiest ports are featured.

Reeds Marine Distance Tables are an invaluable reference for ship owners, operators, brokers, navigators and superyacht skippers. Using this one reference, anyone can calculate the shortest or most economical distances between all the major ports in the world.

Mini Convertible (2009): the new R57 cabrio

Fri, 28 Nov 2008

By Simon Stiel First Official Pictures 28 November 2008 10:46 Mini has just issued the first photos of the new R57 Mini Convertible, which rolls into dealerships in March 2009 and follows the lead set by the latest hatchback. So it's cleaner, a little bit more polished inside and out, and there will probably be evidence of some middle-aged spread when we drive it in 2009.So what's new on the R57 Mini Convertible? All the changes are in line with the Mini hatch, so you get the latest PSA-shared 1.6 petrol engines, BMW group Efficient Dynamics – now redubbed Minimalism in Minispeak – stop-start and intelligent alternator control, helping to contribute to a 22% jump in fuel efficiency, Mini claims. The 1.6 Cooper pumps out 137g/km of CO2.

Mini Crossover Concept: the first photos

Tue, 09 Sep 2008

By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 09 September 2008 23:00 Here's the first look at the new Mini Crossover Concept – proof, at last, that BMW will indeed build a 4x4, SUV-lite version of the Mini. The Crossover concept car will be shown at the 2008 Paris motor show (where else?) and previews the production Mini SUV due in 2010. Mini Crossover Concept: the first official pictures Pore over these first official photographs carefully, because the new Mini Crossover Concept shows closely how the trendy brand's new SUV is shaping up and also reveals how the future face of the Mini brand is evolving.

Top Gear Tonight: Alfa 8C Disco Volante, Mercedes G63 AMG 6×6, Caterhams & SAIRPC Jack Whitehall

Sun, 23 Feb 2014

Richard Hammond drives the Mercedes G 63 AMG 6×6 on tonight’s Top Gear Believe it or not, tonight’s episode of Top Gear – episode 3 of series 21 – see us already more than half way through the new series. So far we’ve had a bit of a poor opening episode, a cracking second episode with the McLaren P1 and Alfa 4C and a so-so third in the series with the seemingly fragile Zenvo ST1 and a road trip to the Ukraine in small hatches. But tonight’s  episode looks very promising with a bonkers SUV from Mercedes, a custom-built Alfa from Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera and a pair of Caterhams – one from each end of the Caterham range.
