Volkswagen to buy Giorgetto Giugiaro’s Italdesign?

Thu, 20 May 2010

The Morris Ital - one of Morris Ital by Giorgetto Giugiaro's greatest (sort of) It’s probably a fair bet – or at least was and has been for some time – that Volkswagen would be in the frame to buy an motoring asset that comes on the market. Especially if that asset is in trouble and an iconic name can be grabbed for a song – or less. Which explains why the names of VW and Giugiaro’s Italdesign are being linked together as the Italian designer appears to seek a car maker to rescue it from the woes of being an independent in these rather troubled times.

2012 Toyota Aygo Fire & Ice Special Editions

Tue, 21 Feb 2012

New special editions of the 2012 Toyota Aygo revealed The 2012 Toyota Aygo has yet to reach showrooms, but we’re already getting two limited editions – the Toyota Aygo Fire and Aygo Ice. The Toyota Aygo has been given a bit of a refresh for 2012 – just like its Peugeot and Citroen cousins – and even before the 2012 Aygo hits showrooms in the UK Toyota has announced a pair of special editions – the Aygo Fire and Aygo Ice. Both the Aygo Ice and Aygo Fire come with the freshly tweaked 1.0 litre VVT-I petrol engine, which now delivers sub-100g/km emissions and economy improved to 65.7mpg, as well as the tweaks to the nose, new LEDs, restyled bumpers, tinted glass and the smallest of interior tweaks.

Jaguar XJ Review (2013 MY): 3.0 litre Diesel Portfolio

Sun, 09 Dec 2012

We’ve got the 2013 MY Jaguar XJ in Portfolio trim with the 3.0 litre diesel engine and the new eight-speed gearbox and stop-start in for review and road test. But even though it’s changed little in the three years since it debuted, the XJ has changed minds about what a big Jaguar saloon should be; no longer the staid old man’s carriage of choice with a pipe holder in the centre console, but instead a stand-out car in its sector with better dynamics than anything else. The looks have grown on a sceptical public too, and the XJ is now viewed as a real Jaguar; it doesn’t garner crowds as it did in the early days, but it’s still a car that passing strangers feel warrants comment, comments which have always been complimentary when the big Jag has been with us.
