Highly exclusive Alfa Romeo Disco Volante revealed

EXCLUSIVE Italian coachbuilder Touring has unveiled its Alfa Romeo Disco Volante, which is a modern interpretation of one of the company’s most famous designs. The new Disco Volante marks the 60th anniversary of the original, but the new car comes with a 4.7-litre V8 engine with 450bhp borrowed from the Alfa Romeo 8C supercar. This means the new Disco Volante can see off 0-62mph in 4.2 seconds and has a top speed of 181mph.

We managed to follow that up with the news that we’d heard a convincing whisper that Spyker were planning to give the Venator Spyder a full public debt at Frankfurt in September, but ahead of that would reveal the B6 Spyder to attendees at this year’s Salon Prive first. That whisper has now been given additional credence with a report from Autoblog that a voice in Spyker has revealed that the B6 Venator Spyder will actually get its first outing at Pebble Beach in less than three weeks.

Audi A1: American buyers not ready says U.S. chief De Nysschen

Audi of America President Johan de Nysschen says the United States and its small-equals-cheap mentality isn't ready for premium subcompacts such as the Audi A1, which goes on sale in Europe later this year. In an interview with Automotive News on Monday, de Nysschen said Audi is "seriously looking" at bringing the A1 to the United States in the car's next generation six to eight years from now. Bringing it here earlier could damage Audi's efforts to build widespread recognition for the brand, he said.
