First customer UK Tesla Model S EV will be delivered March 2014
Fri, 25 Oct 2013First customer UK Tesla Model S (pictured) will be delivered in March 2014 The Tesla Model EV may have been astonishing buyers and car journalists alike in the US for some time – and even Europe is starting to get the first taste of the Model S – but the UK and its RHD needs are lagging a bit behind. But last night there was good new for UK Tesla buyers as Elon Musk announced the first Model S to be delivered in the UK will be in March 2014. Musk also said the first owner was ‘high profile’, but declined to elaborate.
Mazda sells 10 millionth car in America
Wed, 23 Oct 2013The first car Mazda ever sold in America was the R100, a cute lil' two-door fastback that was, unsurprisingly, rotary-powered. The year was 1970. Iggy Pop had made that much explicitly clear with "1970." Just imagine how weird it must have been for Americans to wrap their minds around some tiny Japanese upstart, selling a car approximately the size of a 1970 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham's wheelwell, powered by -- what's this, German technology?
Turin Dream Exhibition
Mon, 17 Nov 2008The 'Dream' exhibition currently taking place at the Giovanni Agnelli Pavilion Esposizioni in Turin is a stroll through almost 60 years of creativity, which convinced the world of carmakers - and consumers - to accept new stylistic features; demand greater performance and safety; and to create new ways to adapt car interiors to the many demands of business and leisure. One of the main events commemorating Torino 2008 World Design Capital, there are 54 one-off examples and three-dimensional objects on view in the 12 galleries, piazza and atrium, including projects from local design schools Instutito Europeo di Design (IED) and the Istituto d'Arte Applicata e Design di Torino (IAAD). IED is showing two projects created by students on its post-graduate course in Transportation Design: the Fiat Panda from 2007 and the 2008 BMW ZX6 - a thesis project created selected as the main photo of the exhibition.
