The new Aston Martin Vanquish has officially arrived with sharp new looks, more power, less weight and a bigger price tag.  AM may not have been thrilled, but we all knew the AM310 from Villa D’Este was dusting off a moniker from Aston’s recent past to become the new Aston Martin Vanquish. And here it is – officially. In Aston’s best Porsche imitation, the DBS evolves in to the Vanquish without tampering too heavily with its looks, as AM310 already demonstrated.

Chris Bangle is a man that needs no introduction on these pages. Both revered and castigated, Bangle's work has undoubtedly been influential for a generation of designers. His unconventional practices – employed at a time when design was still largely segregated from other departments during the development process – yielded many avantgarde and contentious designs, but Bangle's fundamental understanding of the design process, creative vision and desire for change can never be cast in doubt. But estates are boring and dull, so Vauxhall has dubbed this the Sports Tourer, not to be confused with Renault’s Sport Tourer. The Sports Tourer will debut at this autumn's Paris motor show and come with a choice of seven engines and the option of front- or four-wheel drive.
