Mercedes has announced details of the new eight-cylinder engine that will power the upcoming SLK55 AMG. It’s a 5.5-litre lump, and AMG promises that its new naturally aspirated engine delivers not just the performance of a V8, but also the ‘economical fuel consumption of a four-cylinder’. The Audi A3 family has another America-bound variant: the automaker announced at the New York auto show that a diesel-powered Audi A3 Sportback TDI will go on sale here in 2015. Previously, we were told that the plug-in hybrid version of the vehicle -- the so-called Audi A3 Sportback e-tron -- would be the only one to make it to American markets. According Audi, it was enthusiast demand that spurred the change.

Malaysian Grand Prix (2014): RESULT The opening Grand Prix of 2014 in Australia could have been a demonstration of Mercedes’ apparent superiority with the new F1 engines, but Lewis Hamilton’s car let him down leaving Nico Rosberg to take the win for Mercedes. But at the Sepang Track in Malaysia this morning, Lewis Hamilton had no such problems and was ahead of the pack from lights to flag to take a convincing win for Mercedes, 17.3 seconds ahead of his team mate Nico Rosberg in second place with reigning champion Sebastian Vettel trailing in third. An impressive Mercedes one-two in Kuala Lumpur.
