Shelby Mustang Cougar 428 Cobra Jet Freshly Rebuilt Correctly 9d Date Long Block on 2040-parts.com
Uhrichsville, Ohio, US
428 Cobra Jet engine correctly rebuilt. Block is dated 9D22 and the heads are dated 9C15 on both. Original partial VIN on the back of head indicates THIS WAS A 1970 ENGINE. this engine could work for a 69-70 car depending on build date. Here is a good opportunity to buy a very nice 428 Cobra jet engine at a very fair price. First off this engine was a one piece production 428 CJ engine, not pieced together parts. I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with piecing parts together at all, just that this engine started life with all parts pictured here. The block C scratched Tri webbed was disassembled cleaned & magnafluxed, then was align bored. Cylinders bored .030 finished with torque plate, decked square oil passage from oil pump to block adaptor opened up and blended, new cam bearings installed, block was then super cleaned and bagged for assembly. Crank shaft was magnafluxed ,checked for straight ground .010 under on main & rod journals. Connecting rods were checked for straight, disassembled magnafluxed with bolts out, new ARP bolts installed reconditioned both ends with new pin bushings. New forged pistons, rings & bearings, assembly then was all balanced, all parts recleaned, and short block assembled. The Cylinder heads C8OE-6090-N were disassembled cleaned magnafluxed no cracks, new bronze thin wall liners installed 5 angle competition valve job, heads were blanchard ground on intake, exhaust & deck sides, new swirl polished one piece valves, PC seals Crane valve springs & steel retainers with machined locks installed. Springs are good for 600 lift cam. The engine is ready for cam & lifter installation at this point, which is where I stopped, giving prospective buyer choice of cam and intake manifold & oil pan. I do have the CJ cast iron intake for the engine & the aluminum factory valve covers, new M57 HV oil pump, Cloyes true roller timing set and pickup tube for stock oil pan. This will be a great stock restoration engine for 428 CJ Shelby, Mustang, Cougar, Fairlane, Cyclone or install a hotter camshaft, deeper oil pan & better intake manifold if you want more power for these cars or some other Ford hotrod. READ READ!!!! Opening bid is for the long block only. Minus cam lifters and oil pan. Intakes and valve covers in photos are for illustration only to show how we could possibly complete the engine for you. The engine finished with new C6OZ-B cam new oil pan & 9D dated cast iron CJ intake will be $8500. If you choose for me to finish with hotter after market cam, lifter, oil pan & intake manifold price will be higher according to parts chosen. You can purchase at bid price of $7500 and finish yourself as well.More photos available just ask. Engine is also available for inspection at my shop anytime. PLEASE READ!! Buyer pays shipping costs.
